Advantages of Ground Fault
Circuit Protection
GFI (Ground Fault Interrupt) outlets save lives!
They are designed with one purpose in mind and that is making something you plug into an
electrical receptacle safer.
Many people hate them because they are so sensitive they will trip without warning and if
you don't know how to reset them they can be annoying. I suggest you remember
their location and how to reset them. Let them help you in the way they were
designed.
I've had people say they hated GFI protected equipment and wanted me to remove it.
I just explain how they work and convince them they should leave the protection
intact.
Any receptacle in the garage, bath, kitchen counter area, crawl space, or outside must
have GFI Protection (Exception to this is, if it provides power to a permanently plugged
in item such as a garage door opener, timeclock etc.).
